2015 Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala can be described as a deep red wine or a red-brown color. It is earthy, sophisticated, and almost sensual. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says, “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”
So how can we best use this earth-inspired, utterly fulfilling Marasala in our home improvement projects and decor?
1. Throw cushions, candles, vases, and even faux flowers are easy ways to decorate with the warm shade.
2. For the adventurous, paint the walls and ceiling of a small bathroom or powder room in Marsala. Pair it with bright white towels and faucets
3. Shop at stores like HomeSense, Crate and Barrel, Simons and Home Outfitters where you can be sure that Marsala accents will be popping up in every aisle.
