Memorial Day is much more than just a three-day weekend and a chance to get the year’s first sunburn. It began as a response to the unprecedented carnage of the Civil War, in which some 620,000 soldiers on both sides died. The loss of life and its effect on communities throughout the country led to spontaneous commemorations of the fallen heroes.
Whether it’s Memorial Day or not, respect and gratefulness for those who have given their lives for our freedom is something we should constantly remind ourselves of. One way to do this is to include the American Flag in interior or exterior decor. Displaying the American Flag is not only a symbol of patriotism, but is is also a symbol of deep appreciation to those who have fought to preserve our freedoms.
Here is some inspiration, showing how others have chosen to include the American Flag. This Memorial Day, make sure you take time to thank our troops for fighting to preserve our freedoms.
